The Puffin Foundation, Ltd., a private foundation supporting artists and arts organizations that are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their identities or social philosophies, has awarded GreenStage a $2,250 grant.
The funds will be used to support actors’ fees and production costs for playwright Laura Thoma’s new work Letter to My Soul, which GreenStage commissioned with a 2024 Artists’ Award grant. A historical fantasy dialogue between lesbian characters, Letter to My Soul is a women-centric story exploring queerness, aging, mental health and intergenerational relationships.
Scheduled to be performed on Sunday, August 10, the play is part of the 2025 GreenStage Live Arts Festival in downtown Guilford, which will present 30 live performances and hands-on, participatory events in music, dance, drama, spoken word and visual art. All but three will be free.
