GreenStage Launches First-Ever Annual Appeal: A letter from executive director Peter Hawes

I’m personally appealing to you with our first-ever end-of-year fundraising campaign at an exciting time, with planning underway for the 2025 GreenStage Live Arts Festival and several new programs. Your support is vital in helping us continue our mission of entertaining, inspiring, empowering and uniting the community through the transformative power of the arts.

Thanks to your donations, GreenStage has presented over 160 performances and classes since 2017, reaching more than 12,000 people. All but one of these events have been free.

We founded GreenStage with a commitment to innovative, inclusive and accessible programs that are free wherever possible—and to using the arts to improve lives in communities of need. Your contribution is essential for us to keep that commitment.

Next August, our fifth biennial festival will again offer live performances and interactive programs in music, dance and drama—experiences that spark joy, break down social barriers, foster empathy, create a shared sense of belonging and, for many, provide a gateway to pursue their own artistic journeys.

We need to raise $25,000 by December 31 to fund our 2025 programs and keep them inclusive, accessible and free wherever possible. Your donation will:

  • Bring two dozen performers from around the world to the Shoreline for next August’s festival;

 • Fund a theater program for children, teens and families at The Cove Center for Grieving Children, offering a space for creative expression, healing and growth;

 • Commission new works by Connecticut artists for world premiere in Guilford;

 • Present several new GreenStage events next spring and summer;

 • Expand our outreach to seniors and those in need, creating opportunities for creative engagement that combats isolation and builds community.

As someone who’s experienced the magic of GreenStage, you know how the arts can inspire, strengthen, heal and unite communities. Your gift, no matter the size, will make a lasting impact.

Please make your tax-deductible year-end gift today by clicking here or sending a check, payable to Guilford Performing Arts Festival, to P.O. Box 345, Guilford CT 06437. On behalf of everyone at GreenStage, thank you for supporting the arts and helping us foster creativity and connection. Wishing you and your loved ones a magnificent holiday season.
